I personally think that it takes gaming and tries to make it WAY to serious. While some games are developed for awesome competition, people wasting their lives away trying to get 'good' enough to compete is a little silly to me. Basically the fact of the matter is that it is VERY difficult to become a pro gamer that will make any kind of money. Not only do you have to be good, but you have to marketable, dedicated, and willing to say yes to just about anything your sponsors ask of you. That just kind of kills the idea of gaming for me...don't you think?
With that said, I think the publicity gaming is getting due to this is great. While it isn't always the best publicity, anything other than "GTA is making our kids misbehave!" is okay in my book.
Pro Gaming is by far the most absurd thing I have witnessed. Quite frankly, it's not about the gaming. Any random person you find on the streets can become good at games, but it's all about the marketing.
Fatal1ty has just made himself a pathetic label. Quite frankly, it's all scheme. It's just fundamental marketing skills that trick many casual gamers into buying the products of "Pro Gamers". All in all, it's sad and stupid.
Gaming needs no true skill, and that's that. But when you take someone that may be good at a game and label themselves as a "Pro", that leaves me to the question "WHAT?"
